Those imperium soldiers seems to have two types of attack: ranged and melee, maybe different dmg types there.
Dmg type: impact and penetration – Pilots and Officer; Scouts/Grunts do also Burn
Note that Imperium soldiers (scout, grunt, vet) have separate missions from Pilots – those dont count together.
